Rated 5 out of 5Â by Minlv Great sandal, good quality that lasts, runs big
We have had several pairs of these and were very glad to see that they were in sizes up to 1 now on the Web site (the Stride Rite store we shop in has only up through 12), since her school requires shoes to be closed toe and allows these. We had the pink ones last time, and my daughter wore them for a full year and they still were in decent shape (with a few strings that needed to be trimmed).
She said they were very comfortable and preferred them to all of the other Stride Rite closed toe sandals, of which we have had a ton over the years. They did not rub on her heels when worn without socks, or leave marks on the top of her foot and they did not get stinky after wearing them daily for months (although I have actually put them through the washer when they got dirty inside and they did fine!). She did choose white this time and I expect that these will look dirty sooner than the pink, as has been our experience with other Stride Rite white sandals.
But they do run big. My daughter's other Stride Rite shoes are a 13.5 and fit well and that was the size suggested in the Stride Rite store a few months ago, so bought a 1 in this. I was thinking it would last through the summer that way, but I forgot they run large and they are WAY too big. She has at least an inch at the toe.
Her old pair of these shoes, which is size 12, still barely fits with toes sticking out a bit, so I probably should have ordered a 13 instead and will likely have to do so, as she can't wear the 1s at all since they are so big. They also seem slightly wider than the average Stride Rite shoe, so the larger size is even more difficult on my daughter's narrow foot, so it might work for someone with wider feet. I am not sure everyone would want a full size smaller, but if you are considering sizing up a bit, you might consider slightly smaller rather than slightly larger!
But she loves these sandals so we will probably also end up buying the 13 and saving the 1 for later.
